Of all the possible names I could come up with for a blog, I came up with "Telling Stories." I enjoy a great story, whether oral or written, and I like telling them too. I like writing poetry, prose, commentary, news and features, status updates, tweets...anything that involves writing. And I like reading, photography, music, movies, and art as well. With this blog, I want to incorporate those elements. I want to do something different.
I could have written about fashion, but that is an oversaturated blog space in my view. So I left it alone. I could have also written about music, but music is such a vast medium, that trying to create a niche in that area would have been challenging. So I left it alone as well. And I could have written about relationships and other lifestyle-type blogs, but my expertise in those areas is limited. And, like the others, I left those alone. Having left a lot of topics to blog about on the table, I could not think of anything to write about that would stand out and get noticed...until I started thinking about what I liked and was interested in.
I hit upon it thinking about where I could post my various poetry pieces, short stories, and future writing projects. I hit upon "Telling Stories" as a means to communicate my point of view, to offer my stance. I present this blog as one that represents where I have been, where I am now, and where I am headed. I hope that readers enjoy it and are as compelled to share their experiences as I do here.
